Van Hunt
Van Hunt was born in Dayton, Ohio and remembers his relationship with music beginning as early as age eight. By 16, Huntwas performing in nightclubs. His career in the industry spans over 20 years and includes writing and co-producing the hit song Hopeless, which appeared on the Love Jones soundtrack; a 2005 Grammy nomination for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for his song Dust; and a 2007 Grammy award for Best R&B Performance by Duo or Group (along with John Legend and Joss Stone) for a cover of Family Affair by Sly Stone. His influences range from Thelonius Monk, Sly Stone and Prince, to Bach and Franz Liszt. A diverse collection of his masterful compositions display the skill, originality, and integrity for which Hunt's music has become known. He has released two albums, including his first, Van Hunt, and a second offering, On the Jungle Floor. Due to changes in the music industry, Van’s third album, Popular, has never been officially released. The digital release of Hunt’s first independent offering, Use In Case of Emergency (rare items from the vault), a collection of unreleased material and re-mixes, is now available here on VanHunt.com.
Cosi gets down not just for the funk of it, but for the love of it. He spins music like no other DJ on the planet and that is why New York is proud to claim him as one of its own. He seamlessly blends several, if not all, of these genres throughout the evening, flawlessly moving the minds and bodies of those in the audience. If you’ve been to one of the myriad parties where Cosi has played, you’d know this experience first hand. Quite simply, his talent touches your soul. He has held weekly’s at nightclubs and lounges such as Nell’s, Cheetah, Aubette, Justin’s, APT, Lotus, NV, Float, Metronome, Discotheque, Joe’s Pub, Martinez Gallery, Mission, BLVD, and Café Deville, Tribeca Cinemas and Canal Room (just to mention a few). He has created the perfect vibe for parties in a number of cities throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean. Cosi sets the mood and creates the energy for the night.
TreZure
TreZure is her name and music is her empire. There is a unique energy to the sound, style, and production of TreZure’s work that makes you feel as though your ears have indeed stumbled across a hidden treasure. As a composer, TreZure’s music employs the rhythmic sounds of afrobeat, swing, and Brazilian instrumentation. As a lyricist, TreZure’s words deliver more like a young MC than the usual sweet R&B vocalist. With influences including Chaka Khan, Bjork, Mary J. Blige, John Coltrane, and Sam Cooke, TreZure's voice reveals roots that hold true to the sounds our parents’ era, yet are simultaneously brand new. The South Bronx native proves this as she prepares to feature on the Brazilian group Eli Efi’s next album, produced by Phez, a Novo Iorque Brazilian MC. Now, after years of honing her style, teaching herself Portuguese and sharing the stage with the likes of Talib Kweli, Peter Hadar and Kimberly Nichole, TreZure the Empress will debut her full length release album in 2010 taking her music from the concrete comfort of New York to the plush possibilities of the world, creating an empire of soulfully rhythmic sound any music connoisseur would treasure.
