Spirited Young Voices Expressing Their Truth

NYC’s hottest teen poets compete for a chance to represent their city at the Brave New Voices National Teen Poetry Slam in Chicago, IL. Come support the voices of the next generation, as they take the stage and speak their mind. To enter, poets must be 13-19 years old, and sign-up at www.urbanwordnyc.org or show up. First come first serve. Audience members are encouraged to come early, as seating is limited.

Three years strong, our partnership with Urban Word NYC continues with Uptown Open. This monthly open mic series for teens is a safe, uncensored space for poets, spoken word artists, emcees, scholars and activists to share their powerful and important voices. The monthly open mic series is run by youth for youth, with youth DJs, hosts, and a monthly-featured poet.
