GRADES 6–12

This workshop is for the singer who wants to become a songwriter, but first has to find their own voice. In this workshop, Maimouna Youssef will showcase a performance of sound through breathing, vocalizing, improvising, and harmonizing. Maimouna will also explore the stylizing of different genres and the cultural movements that created the sound. Participants will create demo songs from different genres as a group and explore the things that make a song great like rhyme patterns, word placement, structure, melody, harmony choices, cadence and personal stylizing.
