Watch an excerpt from Nona Hendrxy and Disciples of Sun Ra in the Temple, a multi-sensory tribute to Afrofuturism pioneer, Sun Ra, and part of a yearlong, citywide celebration of his legacy. Featuring rock goddess, Nona Hendryx, avant-garde trombonist, Craig Harris, with choreography by internally acclaimed dancer, Francesca Harper, invocations by award-winning poet, Carl Hancock Rux, all in breathtaking costumes designed by renowned Pueblo artist, Virgil Ortiz. This WaterWorks commissioned event was presented in partnership with the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of Harlem Stage's The Cosmic Synthesis of Sun Ra and Afrofuturism series. It was performed at The Temple of Dendur in the Sackler Wing in the early spring of 2020.
