CANCELLED—Uptown Nights: Lakecia Benjamin

  • Harlem Stage 150 Convent Avenue New York United States (map)

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Lakecia Benjamin is no longer able to perform and we will instead be featuring vocalist and flautist Melanie Charles.

Previous ticket holders will receive new digital tickets for the performance via email. The performance time and date will remain the same.

Brilliant alto saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin closes out our fall season performing work from her award-winning third album, Pursuance.

Pursuance pays homage to the genius of John and Alice Coltrane. Benjamin’s success on the record lies in her ability to fuse elements from across genres into the already expertly crafted jazz tunes that the Coltranes constructed decades ago. The New Yorker describes her as a “crafty traditionalist who remains in step with the rhythms of the young generation.”

Don’t miss Benjamin’s performance at the Harlem Stage Gatehouse with Zaccai Curtis on piano, EJ Strickland on drums, and Lonnie Plaxico on bass.

BEFORE YOU PURCHASE YOUR TICKET, please know that you must show proof of full Covid-19 vaccination, having completed the vaccination series at least 14 days prior to the performance date. Masks are required. Learn More about our safety protocols.
